The Paranormal Road Trippers is an independent documentary and investigative collective exploring the intersection of history and the unexplained. Led by veteran investigators Mike Merle, Jacob Rice, and Anthony Germain we bridge the gap between historical fact and paranormal phenomena across North America.Â
Through exhaustive historical research, on-location expeditions, interviews, and rigorous evidence analysis, we examine forgotten places, untold stories, and experiences that challenge our understanding of the past. From the ghost towns of the Pacific Northwest and historic gold rush roadhouses like British Columbia’s Cottonwood House and Barkerville, to legendary hotspots like the Mackay Mansion in Nevada and St. Ignatius Hospital in Washington, our work spans the continent’s most active and historically significant locations.Â
Our investigations are shared directly with a global community through our dedicated YouTube series, Our Haunted Heritage, as well as a curated collection of reportedly haunted artifacts.Â
We don’t set out to prove a ghost exists. We set out to investigate, document, and understand what happened.
History Has a Voice. We Want to Listen
Mike Merle – The Road Tripper

For more than two decades, veteran investigator Mike—known to thousands of listeners simply as MERLE—has been walking the thin line between history and the unknown.
Based out of Langley, British Columbia, Merle built a reputation for bringing a rare blend of grounded research, sharp humor, and genuine respect to the world of ghosts, hauntings, and unexplained phenomena. Beginning in 2015, he served as a staple voice on the hit show Spaced Out Radio, where he co-hosted the monthly, fan-favorite segment Ghosts of the Great White North. Whether analyzing high-strangeness on the air or digging deep into regional folklore, his entertaining yet skeptical-minded approach earned him a devoted following across the paranormal community. Moving forward from his long tenure on the airwaves, Merle has channeled his decades of experience and investigative insights into his current endeavour as the co-host of the Spooky Talks Podcast, joining forces with Ghostly Activities founder and documentary-filmmaking partner Jacob Rice
When the microphones turn off, the road trip begins. As the founder and lead of The Paranormal Road Trippers, Merle logs thousands of miles exploring North America’s most active hotspots. His boots-on-the-ground investigations span the dark corridors of the Pacific Northwest and legendary haunts like Nevada’s Mackay Mansion and Washington’s notorious St. Ignatius Hospital.
Along the way, he’s curated a bone-chilling collection of reportedly haunted artifacts, each with its own dark history and unexplained phenomena attached. Through podcasts, YouTube, live radio, and field investigations, Merle remains on a relentless quest for evidence of the afterlife—bringing curiosity, wit, and a healthy dose of courage to every creepy corner he uncovers.
